I shifted to Pune for my first job @ HSBC GLT. I'm now called a TSE (Trainee Software Engineer). The technical training was arranged at Bharati Vidyapeeth where VESIT was an exception. All other colleges except VESIT had attended a Pre-Training during their final semesters. So, they made a batch of 30 VESITians and put us all in MainFrames. I always wanted to be around Web Technologies, so i requested for shfting me to java. They were reluctant but finally shifted me to a Java after a week's training in mainframes.
The training was pretty nice. All concepts from core java to basic design patterns were covered. We stayed at a hotel in Swargate,Pune during our training. Had lotsa fun there. My mainframe tutor was Mrs. Sheetal and java tutor was Ms. Darshana. I also made good friends with Gaurav(the guy from Amplify mindware).
After 1.5 month's training there, we had our induction in GLT. People from all departments came to tell us about what they did. Among the other sessions, the banking session(by Sarang Khare) and the softskills sessions (by Ryan). After all this, finally i joined work from 24th July '06.
The HR guy(Vijaydeep Joshi) from my department took me to my SPM(Cherian Thomas). It was after that, i met my PM(Sailesh Vaidya) who assigned me to my mentors(Shiju and Devdatta). The first few days were slight boring. My work was to just get software installed on my computer. Once that was done, i started reading and learning things under the guidance of my mentors. I learnt Execution Services(our framework) from the crash course taken by our group people.
Shiju and Dev were TLs and slowly i came to know more of them like Suresh, Kiran, Nilesh etc. There was another Kiran (Nidgunde) in my project whom i had never met before and mistakenly called the TL for a meeting once. There was another guy who used to come to me and ask me about how i was doing / other stuff... This man spoke minimal and was serious all the time. I used to always wonder who he was and it took me some weeks to realise that this guy was my PL (JayaKumar) ..hehe |

Life was busy again after secnet. This time i found myself in a pool of people working for the Accreditation Committee's Visit to VESIT. This was the first time i worked with so many people for VESIT(People generally like to work for societies, events etc but not many work for the college in general). No body knows whether VESIT got accreditated or not... but i loved those days... all people from Mupur Maam to Sandesh(old CP lab peon) worked till evening..we were like a family
After that was Elecrama(or Mishra Sir's Electorama ). Elecrama is an all india Electrical and electronics exhibition where companies across the globe setup stalls to display their products. Along with company stalls, some selected student projects are also displayed there. This year's elecrama was at Goregaon and 3 of VESIT's projects were selected for display there. It was a great experience where we met all kind of people[from industrialists to laymen] and demostrated our projects to them. It was a great marketing experience.
Then i got busy studying for my final semester exams. It was fun to do group study with vinay and vivek where we did timepass all day and then studied whole nights. :P Even during exams we were busy planning for our trip after exams which got cancelled as TCS preponed their joining date . Finally, we had to settle for a one day Navi Mumbai "Darshan". We went to Kharghar hills, Parsik hills and some broken bridge (Vinay took us there). We had 2 cars (Vinay's and mine) but mine got punctured on the way back home. Amogh(my dearest friend and the my driver that day ) got the tyre replaced. After this i hardly remember going anywhere with friends except the meet at mulund where sanket was shopping the whole day. He was so busy buying clothes at shoppers stop that he didn't even come out to see us , can u believe it! Actually he was shopping for goind abroad for studies(MS @ CMU). He is one of the most talented and hardworking friends i have. So, maaf...
I don't remember doing many things before joining HSBC(yes, thats the company i got placed in campus) except for making some sites; which i usually do...
I think, it has been too much for a post; so,chk out my next post for my experience at HSBC, Pune. |
